Starting Over…

43e39040As I lay awake last night, pondering a personal situation where I am being forced to start anew, I was reminded of something a mentor once told me.

People often view starting over as a negative thing but there is value in recognizing that you aren’t just going back to square one. Instead, you are starting over at a different level than which you begin which means you still have some kind of advantage in the situation.

Rather it be in your career, finances or relationship, the idea of having to start over can be very frightening. However, this thought process has helped me find peace with the decisions I’m currently having to make.

I’m sure we’ve all used the phrase, “If I knew then what I know now” without ever really thinking that we’d ever be in the position to actually start over. In these moments, it’s extremely important that you don’t allow a defeated spirit to keep you from actively participating in your life.

Put those lessons to good use and keep moving forward. Trust yourself in the process and the reason behind it all. Surround yourself with those who genuinely care about your well-being and don’t be afraid to lean on them when negativity tries to rear its ugly head. Remember, as daunting as it may seem, there is still hope.

Here’s to new beginnings!

  1. I really like this. I also think having that mind set of new beginnings constantly in your head can help you, because you never know when change is around the corner.
Great Post! If you could check out and like my blog that would be amazing. I post mainly to give people advice and better their life. I only recently started. 😊

  2. I was able to relate with this soo much! I’m always changing things in my life that I don’t think are beneficial. Friends, romantic interests… even clothes. The great thing about these overhauls is that you get to recreate yourself and become whoever you want to be. Great post 🙂
