I’ve been a fan of Kendrick Lamar since the release of his good kid, m.A.A.d city album and have been anxiously awaiting his next one.
Imagine my surprise when I started hearing less than stellar reviews in response to this single when it hit the internet and radio waves a few weeks ago.
However, I absolutely love this song. As usual, his lyrics are about more than just the run of the mill type stuff you hear in much of today’s rap. It has a deeper meaning which I’m all about.
“We got a young brother that stands for something! We got a young brother that believes in the all of us! Brother Kendrick Lamar! He’s not a rapper, he’s a writer, he’s an author! And if you read between the lines, we’ll learn how to love one another! But you can’t do that… – (Right on!) – I said, you can’t do that – without loving yourself first.”
With that being said, here’s to my ‘mood of the morning’ and a Happy Saturday. Enjoy!
