In an effort to get back into the habit of blogging daily, I decided to sign up for the Writing 101: Building a Blogging Habit challenge offered here on WordPress.
As soon as I logged in to check today’s assignment, I was met with a quote that pretty much summed up how I feel about my writing at times and can also be stated as the main reason for my self-proclaimed periods of writers block.
You write because you have an idea in your mind that feels so genuine, so important, so true. And yet, by the time this idea passes through the different filters of your mind, and into your hand, and onto the page or computer screen — it becomes distorted, and it’s been diminished. The writing you end up with is an approximation, if you’re lucky, of whatever it was you really wanted to say.

So the instructions for today were plain and simple. Loosen up and unlock the mind.
What better way to do that than with free writing???
As of right now, I have about 45mins worth jotted down in my journal and while it’s the most carefree, unedited thing I’ve written in quite some time, it has been a very calming and therapeutic experience to say the least.
Similar to how it was when I was younger. Before the whole “writing thing” started getting super serious for me. Needless to say, I’m feeling pretty inspired about the next twenty days and can’t wait to see what comes out of it.
Here’s to REALLY stretching those writing muscles!
