You’re at the airport, your flight is delayed for six more hours, and none of your electronic devices is working. How do you pass the time? http://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/terminal-time/
As an ex-Flight Attendant, I have experienced this at least once or twice. On both occasions, I thought that it was “just my lucky day” that not only was I being forced to wait in the airport but my phone was less than 50% charged and seemingly draining but the more by the second.
There are only so many ways to pass the time in an airport and the worst thing you could ever to do is watch the clock. So here’s how I pass the time.
Eat/Have Drinks – I don’t know about anyone else but when I’m trying to pass time, eating is the first thing that comes to mind. Now we all know airport food is overpriced and sometimes not that great but if you’re lucky enough to be stuck in an airport with a good food selection, grabbing a bite and maybe a drink or two to take the edge off, wouldn’t be a bad idea.
People Watch – I always find pleasure in sitting back and watching those around me and the airport makes a great place for people watching. From the confused looks of those trying to figure out where they need to be, power-nappers, right down to the airport sprinters (some of which who end up missing their flight anyway) and everything else in between.
Read a Book – even though I have an e-reader, I still prefer the feel of a hard copy in my hands and never travel without a good read in tow. Nowadays everyone is so hooked on their electronic devices that sometimes we forget the old-fashion way of doing things.
Write Something – another must have on my carry-on travel list is my journal. Sitting in an airport terminal, with nowhere else to go and all sorts of inspiration around makes for a really good random writing session. You might be surprised at what you come up with.
Do these and you’ll be on your way in no time!
