Tell us about one thing (or more) that you promised yourself you’d accomplish by the end of the year. How would you feel once you feel once you do? What if you don’t?
Today’s prompt really got me to thinking. As the title suggests, we often start the beginning of the year with great expectations and a laundry list of things to accomplish but most of us fizzle out at some point during the course of it all. However, I am happy to report that the list I prepared in January is well underway and on track for end-of-year success.
So here’s my list…
To focus more on getting back to me. Setting aside some much-needed personal time to resolve old issues, meditate/workout more and simply step outside my comfort zone has been both a challenging and rewarding experience. Although I am not where I hope to be by the end of the year, I have made great strides in this area.
To really dive into my career. After spending way too much time working a dead-end job and ultimately being laid off, I wanted to see what it would be like to really pursue my passion of writing and other journalistic aspirations. Aside from attending school full-time and the occasional freelance projects, I have managed to make some really good connections that have given me so much insight and even more inspiration to forge ahead. This, I’m excited about!
Travel, travel and more travel. Now here’s the tricky part. Usually by this time of year, I would’ve already been on at least one trip and preparing to leave for the next one but my travel buddy has been out of commission so my travel bug has been rather unsatisfied as of late. Good news is, I now have a return visit to Atlanta on the calendar for later this year and another possible trip in the works.
Nevertheless, at the end of the year, having all these things accomplished will be a true highlight and this year will definitely go down in the books as being one of the most productive years of my life.
Here’s to Great Expectations!
