Goodbye Corporate America…

Two months ago I found out that my job would be doing a layoff as a result of outsourcing and my last day would be this past Friday. I was not discouraged when I received this news because while I was thankful for the job, I was also BEYOND miserable there.

I entered into the finance industry upon leaving my position as a Flight Attendant once I found out I was expecting my first-born and worked at my most recent employer for the past five years out of sheer comfort. It provided a source of consistent income and looked good on my resume but by no means was it what I really wanted to be doing in life.

However, this opportunity has provided me with just the push I needed to get out of my comfort zone and seriously chase the dream I’ve always wanted. With that being said, I plan to take the next year off, finish my degree, do some traveling and focus on my writing more seriously.

This will be my first time without a job since I was 16yrs old so I will definitely have to adjust to the lack of a set schedule but I am truly excited about this fresh start and hope to make the absolute best of it.

Cheers to new beginnings!

  1. That’s wonderful news! I’m on sabbatical this year, writing and marketing every day, and it is a very fulfilling lifestyle. Good luck and I look forward to your posts about it 🙂
